The Mother Goose Nanny School Kenya offers the Au-pair program to nanny students both male and female not based in Nairobi or with accommodation problem. The program offers accommodation and financial help to students who are in need of both while they pursue their career to become professional nannies and house-helps.
Once the students have registered with the nanny school for nanny course program, the ones interested of Au-pair program are matched up with parents who want to host the Au-pairs. After an agreement has been made between the parent and the student, then the Au-pair Agreement is signed by both parties.
The Au-pair Contract has several clauses that protect the interest of both parties. Parents get house work done by the Au-pair and also help with taking care of the children. Since the Au-pair is a student at the same time, the parent will benefit on the skills acquired by the Au-pair in school; that is a semi-skilled nanny. Moreover, discipline, good relationship, time management are things the parent is promised by the schools since the agency will keep on supervising and following up on the Au-pair placed with families.
On the other hand, the Au-pair or the nanny student gets accommodation, food and pocket money. Besides, the student is able to attend all the nanny classes held in Our Rongai center. The working schedule is planned to benefit the Au-pair so that he or she can attend his or her classes.
It is important to know that, the Au-pair program is only for students at The Mother Goose Nanny School Kenya. One cannot become an Au-pair before joining the nanny school.
We have various Au-pair Programs.
1. Monday to Friday classes Au-pair
The Au-pair program is for the nanny students who opt to finish their course in a period of four months. The nanny student attends classes from Monday to Friday between between 8.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.
In the morning, the working time should be before 7.30 a.m. The student is expected to help in the morning preparation such as making breakfast and preparing family children for school. However, the morning chores should be planned in a way that the student will make it to school early enough for 8.30 a.m. class. In the afternoon, the nanny student should make sure that is home latest by 3 p.m. This is to ensure that, she or he is early enough to pick the family kids from school and can also do other house chores, help the children with homework and prepare supper. However, the student should be free by 9.00 p.m.
Saturday is a full working day and Sunday is free day or the other way round if worship day for the family and student is on Saturday. in total, the Au-pair student will have not more than 15 work hours in the weekend. That means , he or she can work full day Saturday and get a day off on Sunday or work in the morning of both days and get afternoons free or any other away as the agree with the family, considering that there is no work of more than 15 hours in the weekend.
Au-pair Agreement is signed between the Host family and the student when both agree to stay together. (it is good to know that this is not a form of employment, but a host family and an Au-pair agreement, since both parties benefit from each other)
The family, pays a monthly compensation fee to the Daily Au-pair, amount of not less than KSHS 4,000.
2. Saturday classes Au-pair
Saturday classes Au-pair are either The Mother Goose working house-helps or untrained student nannies attending their professional nanny classes on Saturdays.
During the week, the Saturday class Au-pair work full time Monday to Friday. However, on Saturday they attend classes at our Rongai center from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. Sunday is their off-day.
If a Saturday Au-pair is already a trained house-help, then a work contract is signed between the family and the worker, that she or he is free on Saturday to enable him or her attend the nanny classes. That is, Saturday is not a working day. Salary is according to the work agreement.
However, if the Saturday Au-pair is with a family as untrained nanny, but attending the Saturday nanny classes, then the two parties are bound together by a Saturday Au-pair Agreement. The family becomes the host family and not an employer. The compensation to the Au-pair apart from getting free accommodation is money not less than Kshs 7000 per month.
